The Nintendo Switch 2 has been officially announced, and we'll soon learn more about it in a special Nintendo Direct that will take place in early April.

In a video released a few minutes ago, Nintendo introduced the new console. It was confirmed that the release will take place in 2025. We can also look forward to a Nintendo Direct dedicated exclusively to the Nintendo Switch 2, which will be broadcast on April 2nd.

The video provides a detailed comparison of the differences between the original Nintendo Switch and the new console. The most important new features include new ports, an improved stand that allows the console to be placed almost vertically, and optimized Joy-Cons. Nevertheless, the Nintendo Switch 2 remains true to the recipe for success of the first version. Close-ups of the analog sticks are particularly interesting, as they seem to indicate that Nintendo has taken a closer look at the drift problem of the original console.

The name "Nintendo Switch 2" should also dispel any doubts that might be reminiscent of the difficult WiiU era. Nintendo has also confirmed that the console will be able to play physical and digital games from the first Switch. Although some titles may not be fully compatible, backwards compatibility seems to be a central part of the new console.

We'll get more information in the Nintendo Switch 2 Nintendo Direct, which will take place on April 2nd, so it won't be long before we hear details about features, games, and a possible release date. Stay tuned!
